Non-use and misuse of child safety seats is a widespread problem in Nevada, and motor vehicle deaths remain the leading cause of unintentional injury-related deaths among children ages 14 and under. Now there is a great new program to help address this growing problem.
The Fitting Station is operated by Renown Children's Hospital.
The Fitting Station is the region's first full-time facility to offer child vehicle safety restraint education, inspection and installation.
How it does it work?
The Safety Station is staffed by nationally-certified Child Passenger Safety technicians and volunteers dedicated to providing parents and caregivers individualized tutorial instruction on the proper selection, use and installation of child restraints for their vehicles. In order to use the station clients are required to schedule an appointment. To schedule an appointment, please call 775-982-2620.
Are there any fees?
The Fitting Station operates on a sliding-fee scale. The full cost of installation and education is $25; additionally car seats are available for purchase. However we must install the car seat at the time of the appointment. The Northern Nevada Fitting Station offers a sliding-fee scale for both the installation and seat costs; the minimum fee is $10 per seat. In order to receive a reduced rate you will need to provide proof of income.
As one of the top ambulance systems in the nation, REMSA is prepared to assist you when you need it most. A REMSA Silver Saver membership can help protect your pocketbook as well as REMSA protects your life, health, and safety.
If you or someone in your family requires a REMSA paramedic ambulance, will your out-of-pocket expenses be covered? REMSA's average ambulance bill is over $700, lower than most comparable programs in the nation. But if you have a high Medicare or insurance deductible, or are on a fixed income, it may be difficult to cover these costs.
The $69 Silver Saver membership protects your entire household against out-of-pocket costs such as deductibles and co-payments that may not be covered by your insurance policy, Medicare, or other health benefits payor... for medically necessary paramedic ambulance services from REMSA.
However, Silver Saver is not an insurance policy, nor is it meant to be a substitute for health insurance. If you have no insurance or other coverage, or if your insurance company or other payor denies payment, you will be responsible for the payment of the fees for those services... but REMSA will discount them by 20% for Silver Saver members.
For only $69 a year, your household is covered for up to 10 medically necessary REMSA ambulance transports per year. With Silver Saver, you're covered whether you live at home, in a senior living center, or nursing home. Silver Saver does not cover Care Flight, REMSA's emergency helicopter service, or Med Express, REMSA's wheelchair transportation service.
You may also add Flight Plan Membership for only $30.
As a Silver Saver member you have the opportunity to increase your household's coverage and protection by adding Care Flight's membership plan. Not only are you covered should you need Care Flight in northern Nevada or northeastern California (40,000 square mile service area), but you are also covered by the following reciprocal programs:
